Charcot foot is a serious condition that can occur when there is significant nerve damage with numbness (neuropathy). The bones of the foot become very fragile and may break under even the normal forces of standing and walking, causing the shape of the foot to change. If untreated, Charcot foot can lead to severe deformity, disability and even amputation, so it is important that those at risk (diabetes is a risk factor) monitor their foot health.
Once treatment has taken effect, our made-to-measure orthotics and/or footwear can provide comfort and support for feet misshapen by Charcot foot. Made-to-measure support can also help prevent strain and inflammation.
